Resumen
El objetivo del presente artículo es examinar la postura del científico español Juan Ramón Lacadena sobre la cuestión del estatuto del embrión humano. Para ello, primero describiremos de forma sucinta cómo se inicia el ciclo vital de un ser humano, para pasar después a preguntarnos qué estatuto se le puede ofrecer al embrión desde la ciencia, concluyendo con la presentación del enfoque que sería más coherente defender para así enfrentarse a las consideraciones éticas que de tal postura puedan desprenderse desde la ética de la responsabilidad.

Abstract
The aim of this article is to examine the position of the Spanish scientist Juan Ramón Lacadena on the question of the status of the human embryo. To do so, we will first briefly describe the beginning of the human life cycle, and then move on to ask ourselves what status can be offered to the embryo by science, concluding with the presentation of the approach that it would be more coherent to defend in order to face the ethical considerations that may arise from such a position from the perspective of the ethics of responsibility.
